Memoir: The Blessings of Friendship

“Two people will not be together for so long if they cannot forgive each other’s little failure”

I may be lucky for having lots of friends and acquaintances in my social life, but I’m blessed for having a true friends and best friend. One person that I trust for about four years is Sheina Marie Deocares. We have lots of similarities and differences, and we have one common in life, that is Faith to God that involves in our friendship.

I met her four years ago in our youth camp at Boso Boso High land Resort. There are lots of adolescents and young professional at the congregations and I’m just enjoying watching them talking with their old and new friends, swimming on pool and playing games. I’m not fond of playing volleyball before so I always sitting on the bench while they are playing on the resort, then suddenly I notice her as she watch my friends playing volleyball. So I introduce myself to her because I want to acquire new friends, there our friendships began.

As time passed by, we became good friends, partners in crime, sisters in faith and faithful best friend. My house is far from her, so I earn money to visit her and she does the same thing. When we were together, we have nonstop talking about our problems, likes and dislikes, people we encounter, crushes and study habits, sharing God’s word and food trips. That was unforgettable moment we do every time when we were together.

If you will ask me of what is the best blessing that God gave me in my entire life? I may say that it is the blessings of our friendship, the love and trust that keep us together, the family that motivates us to have Faith in God. I am so grateful that I have a kind and beautiful best friend like Sheina.

She is one of the best thing I ever had because she is…

A friend that shows really who you are.
A friend who will lift you up when everyone trying to pull you down.
A friend who has a kind heart that always trusting God when no one cares.
A friend who will encourage you to have a good testimony even there are people who are trying to persecute or criticize you.
A friend who never get tired to make effort just to make you happy.
A friend who will value you like no other and isn’t ashamed of doing certain things for you and,
A friend who loves and proud of you even to the smallest detail part of your life.

We have sometimes conflict but we fix it and forgive each other’s little failures, and respect our differences. That’s what our friendship makes unique among the friendships that we have. I have new friends but I keep her as my gold treasure and keep them as the silver gift from God. One thing I learned from experiencing of people who accept and reject me as their friend that is to BE YOU. Don’t be ashamed to show the real you, because if they really like to be their friend, they will accept and love you, nothing more, nothing less. Be you and be with the person whom you trusted. I’m so thankful to God that He gives me a good friend like her.

"Make new friends but keep the old. One is silver and the other is gold."
